General content block

What is a general content block?

The general content block is a rich text editor and the default block for displaying content. There is flexibility in this block to allow for a wide range of formatting including headers, bulleted lists, typography options, tables and images.

Specification

  • Text (required)
  • Background (white, grey, green)

Usage guidelines

Do's

  • General content block should be used to display text/lists and images where you wish to have control of the formatting and placement.
  • Use this block to display tables.

Dont's

  • Don't use the formatting options of the general content block to move away from the design patterns in the GEL
  • Don't use a background colour other than white if this block is alongside any other block, card or container
  • Don't use a background colour other than white if this block contains a table
  • Don't use this block to display videos. These should be contained within an article block or spotlight card.

Behaviour

  • Allows for a wide range of formatting and content display options.
